Blueberry Fiddle Festival (& Contest)
|
|
SrMPh writes " Fiddle Festival
Event Date: , August 07, 2009
End Date: , August 08, 2009
Step back into the past with a one-of-a-kind, old-fashioned family festival: the 7th annual Blueberry Fiddle Festival, organized by Richmond’s Immaculate Heart of Mary School.
Come Friday for the Fish Fry & Contra Dance, while Saturday’s schedule includes the second annual Fiddle Contest (endorsed by the North American Fiddling Judges Association). On either day, make sure you plan to see this year's original New England melodrama.
The Fiddle Contest boasts three specialty divisions (twin, picking, and group) as well as the regular divisions based on age and ability. The unique feature of the contest is the “fourth tune” or Show Tune, where showmanship really counts!
Music includes performances by several talented groups. Enjoy the music while you savor a slice of homemade blueberry pie and cool off with ice cream from a local dairy.
The festival is held at Cheshire Fairgrounds (Route 12, Swanzey, NH) on August 7-8: Friday 2-9pm, Saturday 9am-7pm. Admission is FREE; parking is a one-time $5.
For more information, visit blueberryfiddlefestival.com or call 603-239-6495."
